London is packed with places that feel much further from the city than they really are. The best walk depends on your dog, the weather and how much time you have, but these seven are a strong place to start.

1. Hampstead Heath

Woodland paths, open heath and big skyline views make this one of the capital’s most varied walks.

2. Battersea Park

A manageable central option with riverside stretches, lawns and plenty of room to keep the route interesting.

3. Greenwich Park

A great south-east choice if you like a little hill with your walk — plus a brilliant viewpoint over London.

🐾 Quick reminder: local rules, temporary restrictions and livestock or wildlife considerations can change. Check signs on arrival and keep your dog under close control where needed.

4. Victoria Park

Broad paths and open green space make this an easy, sociable east London option.

5. Richmond Park

Huge, beautiful and full of wildlife. It is especially important to follow current guidance around deer and use a lead where required.

6. Alexandra Palace Park

A north London favourite with wide views and lots of space for an energetic wander.

7. Clapham Common

Simple, accessible and easy to combine with a dog-friendly café or pub stop nearby.
